The Spreewald is a Biosphere Reserve in Brandenburg. On an extensive network of channels and creeks the Spree flows through the Spreewald. This unique landscape is not only from spring to autumn a magnet for tourists, but also during the cold season, as can be seen in the pictures and videos.
When it is winter in the Spreewald, nature comes to rest. Now much fewer tourists are to be found, as to the high season. But all that changes, if the winter is very cold. Then it may happen, that the creeks freeze and the Spreewald transforms into a Winter Wonderland. However, this happens very rarely. Because that happens so rarely, both the locals as well as guests experience this spectacle of nature very intensive. Then you can explore the beauty of the Spreewald on ice-skates or on sleds. In such cold winters the Spreewald is one of the longest skating tracks in the world.
